FBI Director Christopher Wray, while speaking before the House Appropriations Committee, shared that China has 50 hackers for every 1 of the FBI’s cyber-centric agents. That’s not 50:1 for every FBI Cyber agent assigned to work exclusively on China-based cybercrime; that’s 50:1 for all their cyber agents. So, even if the FBI would decide to ignore Russia, Iran, and North Korea as cyber threats, they are still vastly outnumbered.
"The scale of the Chinese cyber threat is unparalleled. They've got a bigger hacking program than every other major nation combined and have stolen more of our personal and corporate data than all other nations, big or small combined.”
"Our opponents in this space are relentless, and we need your help to ensure that we've got the resources to keep responding in kind."
– FBI Director Wray
Director Wray is looking for the committee to fund another 192 FBI cyber agents.
